TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Definitions

“Editright” refers to a business with Australian Business Number 9014997485, and “Client” refers to a person or other entity who use the Editright website or contracts Editright to conduct proofreading and/or editing services.

Acceptance of the Terms and Conditions

By accepting Editright proofreading and/or editing services, the client accepts all Editright Terms and Conditions. The provision of service by Editright is acknowledgement that the client has read, understood and agreed to the Terms and Conditions. The provision of service by Editright is to be understood as a declaration by the client that Editright has been clear and accessible in providing the Terms and Conditions of this agreement.

Client consultation

The client must provide Editright with all necessary information, documents, and assistance to enable Editright to perform its services under the Terms and Conditions. This includes name, address, email address, telephone number, and all payment details.

Submitting documents

Clients must submit electronically a sample of his/her work (1-2 pages) and a total word count of his/her document to Editright via email to retrieve a quotation. The sample document provided will be proofread and/or edited free of charge as part of the initial consultation. Quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue. Once a quote is accepted, all materials required to be proofread and/or edited must be submitted to Editright electronically via email or on disk or USB.

Ownership and copyright

The client retains sole copyright ownership and control over all materials submitted to Editright. Editright does not endorse, recommend, or support the content of any documents provided by or for the client. Editright assumes no responsibility or liability for the infringement of third party copyright. By providing Editright with any form of documents or information, the client declares that he/she is authorised to use any and all information provided for the purposes of service or payment of service. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure all dates, facts, figures, tables, graphs, and other technical information is correct.

Payment terms

The client is required to pay a deposit of 50% of the total amount quoted prior to work commencing once the quote is accepted. Once proofreading and/or editing services are completed, Editright will issue an invoice to the client. The client is then required to pay the final amount within 14 days of the invoice date. All documents will be returned to the client once full payment is made. Payments are to be made via direct bank deposit and such details will be provided on the invoice. Editright only accepts payments in Australian dollars.

Urgent documents

A premium surcharge of 20% is added to the total amount invoiced if a document is required to be proofread and/or edited within 24 hours.

Discounts

A 10% discount on the total price quoted is granted to all students. Editright reserves the right to request proof of student identification at any time.

Pricing terms

Editright reserves the right to change rates at any time.

Confidentiality

All information submitted by the client remains confidential. Editright will not disclose to any third party the content of any material submitted to Editright by the client. Ownership of any intellectual property generated or created through Editright services automatically resides with the client.

Returning documents

Editright will return work to the client in electronic format, either by email, disk or USB (if provided). Printing will be the responsibility of the client. However, if the client requests the postage/courier delivery of documents, all delivery costs will be covered by the client. An administration fee of 5% of the total cost will also be charged to the client to cover printing. Editright will not be held responsible for delays or losses due to events beyond its control (Australia Post/courier delivery delays, etc.). Editright is not responsible for delays in service as a result of technical problems or other unforseen circumstances. Editright cannot be held liable for any damage to, or loss of information.

Archiving of submitted documents

Editright will archive copies of electronically edited work for 30 days from the date of returning documents to the client. Should a client lose or delete his/her proofread and/or edited text, Editright may be contacted within this time period to retrieve the materials.

Cancellations

If the client wishes to cancel his/her acceptance of the quote, Editright will invoice the client for any work completed to date. There is no cancellation fee. The client must advise Editright in writing of the request not to proceed with work. Editright also reserves the right to reject any work.

Termination of service and contractual obligations

Editright reserves the right to terminate all service or contractual obligations with the client in any case where the client violates any of the Terms and Conditions. Editright can terminate operation of this site, services, or its trading name at any time and for any reason.

Refusal or denial of service

Editright reserves the right to refuse service to any client or prospective client for any reason.

Security

Editright will not be held liable for online theft or fraud.

Service quality and standards

Editright provides clients with the best possible quality of service. However, Editright provides no guarantee that a client’s work will be error free. Should a client be dissatisfied with the proofreading and/or editing services, Editright will review the document once more upon completion of services at no extra cost provided full payment has already been made. A refund will be provided to the client on the condition that the client conclusively demonstrates how Editright failed to meet its service obligations.

Modification to Terms and Conditions

Editright Terms and Conditions and website can be modified, amended, altered, changed, reorganised, rewritten or revoked at any time and for any reason.

All transactions and correspondence are bound to these Terms and Conditions.
